3 Simple Steps to Get/Update Your Military Spouse ID
Find An ID Office
1. The first step when trying to get your military spouse ID is to schedule an appointment at your local RAPIDS ID OFFICE. The link that you will use to schedule your appointment is https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/.
2. Once on the appointment scheduling site, you will want to select the ID Card Office Locator & Appointments.
3. A section to search for an ID office in your local city, state, and zip code will appear. In this section, input your information to find an ID office near you.
4. Once you have entered your local information, you will receive a list of local ID offices near you. It is important to look through all the ID office options to find the best one.
Schedule An Appointment
1. Once you have selected an ID office, a calendar will pop up of that office’s availability. The office typically opens the appointment slots for the month. Rarely do the ID offices allow you to schedule an appointment months in advance.
2. Once you are ready to book your appointment, a pop-up screen message will appear. This message will break down the requirements and notices you need to be aware of before your appointment. It is important to read through everything to know exactly what you need for your appointment. This section will also detail the office’s parking access, late policy, and other important information.
3. Once you’ve selected the ‘Book Appointment’ tab, you will be asked to put in your information as well as your spouse’s information.
4. Once you have submitted all of your information, you will be sent a confirmation email confirming your booked appointment.
Making Sure You Have The Correct Documentation
You must have the correct documentation when going to your appointment. If you show up to your appointment without the required documentation, you will have to reschedule your appointment. Below is a list of what you will need for the ID appointment. However, the required documentation you will need depends on where you are stationed and the ID office you are going to. All required documentation must be unexpired and in its original form. Most ID offices will not accept digital copies of your documentation.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
– Military ID
-Driver’s License
-Passport
-Social Security Card
-Voter’s registration card
-Birth Certificate
-Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC)
*Some of the listed documentation is considered a secondary ID

Attend I.D. Appointment With Spouse
It is important to remember that your spouse is required to be present at your military spouse ID appointment. In my experience recently when renewing my ID, my husband only needed to sign a document and was able to leave in the middle of the appointment. If your spouse is unable to attend the appointment, I would highly recommend contacting the ID office. In some cases, the ID office will allow you to provide a valid DD Form 1172-2 pre-printed by a DEERS station that has been signed by the Sponsor and a Verifying Official ahead of time.
Trying to update or get a new ID can be a stressful task but trust me if you follow these three simple steps, you’ll be fine.
